Mudflats was rockiin' and rollin' as we walked in--people have no qualms about letting it out, and partying. How it could ever get better everytime we play there, I don't know. It was awesome!

Park Street Blew Us Away October 24--Wild Bills & Clancey's Halloween blast this week!

How it could ever get more crowded in Park St.---I just don't know. The coolest part of it all was how the crowd grew and grew all the way up to 2am. Wish we didn't have to stop then--great dancers, party animals, and 'Joe Pa' was there for most of the night!!--too bad he didn't go there Saturday night, too. Here are some photos:

This week --have Saturday on Thursday at Wild Bills in Marion October 30 8pm to 11:30-ish.
Friday October 31st--Halloween-- at Clancey's in Delaware. 10pm to 2am--we will have dance and costume contests all night! See ya there???

Wild Bills and Larry B's--last weekend--went into orbit! This week--'semi-private' party in Dublin Sunday Oct. 19th 2:30pm

Well, it was no surpise that Wild Bills was another crazy blast. Even our guitar player got into the frenzy with his duct-tape frisbeeing which resulted in wet jeans--and not just the jeans that sprayed with a drink. We almost had a Dream Girls moment. Oh yeah, by the way, we are now playing there THANKSGIVING NIGHT, NOVEMBER 27TH. They tell me that this is a Marion tradition and that the place will be packed!!! 8pm to 12mn or so!!

Then, on Friday night, we played at Larry B's for the first time--what was really great about this place was how the crowd grew as the night went on. Some of the best dancing we've seen for awhile. If you haven't been there, slip out into the patio while it is still warm enough and you will swear you are no longer in Columbus--very, very nice!

This week we are playing a 'semi-private' party in Dublin on Sunday, October 19th, 2;30. If you want to crash this, go to our website thecodeblueband, and get directions. We play 2:30 to about 6.

Hope to see you soon -October 24th--Park St. Tavern and October 31st--Halloween--Clancey's in Delaware!

Thanks for the great crowd at Digger & Finch--some of you stayed from 7pm and waited until our newly created 9pm start time, inside. Our semi-acoustic show was great fun to do, and we will be doing more of it.

We currently are off the following week, October 17 and 18th. See ya!

BACK TO CENTRAL OHIO SEPT. 25, 26, 27, & 28--LAST MINUTE GIG AT THIRSTY EAR SEPT. 26TH

After a wild weekend of traveling through West Virginia and Southern Ohio hills, playing at the renowned Blennerhassett Hotel in Parkersburg and The Marietta Brewery in Marietta, we come back to Central Ohio in a big way:
1. Thursday--Wild Bills in Marion--7:30 to 11:30--if you are in the mood for a Saturday night but don't want to wait, come out here- it's INSANE there--there are people actively calling in sick for Friday. Wild Bill's is a great place--come out!
2. Friday--The Thirsty Ear--okay, they had a cancellation and we were 'the first band they thought of'--we are ECSTATIC to bring our show back to the Ear--9pm to 1am
3. Saturday--Clancy's in Delaware- 10pm to 2am--our first time there--don't know what to expect!! Come on out!
4. Sunday- The Columbus Ohio Blues Challenge held at Whiskey Dick's--time announced for us is 4:30, but plan to get there early in case things get moved up--last year it got moved up over an hour and I drove 100mph to get there barely on time. So, if you get there by 2 to 3, you should be okay--but, why not take in the day?--you'll see 15 acts competing for 2 spots to represent Columbus at the International Blues Contest in Memphis, in 2009.

Wow, this is getting close to how busy I'd like us to be!

ROLLING, ROLLING, ROLLING BACK TO PARK ST. TAVERN! SEPT. 12, FRIDAY

After a phenomenal night at Park St. Tavern early in the summer, we are chomping at the bit to return there this Friday, Sept. 12th. We will be buffing out all of our top funk and R and B to 'bring it' to this top venue. We play 9:30 to 1:30. Bring your 'A-game' and a couple of designated drivers, because it will be a sweaty night of chaotic, dancing fun. See ya!

TOP TEN GIGS OF ALL TIME--AT MUDFLATS-SEPT. 6!

Wow. What a fantastic night we had at Mudflats. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect because it was OSU game day, and usually if we play the same night, people have partied out by the time any band shows up. HOWEVER,that was the COMPLETE OPPOSITE at Mudflats. People kept coming out and kept staying and the band agreed that it was one of the top gigs we've played of all times! Great crowd and we, as usual, had the most fun of anyone else there--but that was saying a lot! Pockets of dancers were seen all over the restaurant/lounge, and at last call, people were still coming in. We played past our 12mn quit time, because we just didn't want the evening to end. Many, many thanks to Mudflats for the great time and for having us.

Weekend off- Come see us at Mudflats September 6th

Played to a great bunch of people at Benny's last night in Marysville. We have the rest of the weekend off, but we will back back to business next Saturday at Mudflats. We play 8:30 to 12mn--get there for the great food, drink, and best of all, the people who make it so much fun to play there.

Monday, August 25, 2008

Playing Thursday August 28th at Benny's--have weekend off

This week we are playing only Thursday at Benny's in Marysville, 7pm to 11pm. Benny's has built a huge, beautiful stage, and added even more seating then they had before. Besides the great pizza and drinks, I've just heard that their subs are fantastic. Benny's is huge, so if you want to be close to the band, by the outside bar, you can--or if you want to be a further away, that is available as well.

We start at 7pm and there is no cover. When you are at Benny's, it feels like a whole different world--come and enjoy the get away with us.

Marion Ohio Rocks! This week- Gahanna- Classics Anniversary party blow-out!

Our first time at Wild Bill's in Marion was nothing less than 'Wild'! The only night of the week that they have bands is ?Thursday, and people DO come out to have a good time--and we did, too! Thanks Wild Bills and Marion!
Plain City Pub woke up this week! It was hot in there and we had a great time!
This week we are at Classics in Gahanna on Saturday, August 23rd, for the ANNIVERSARY BLOW-OUT. Be careful--this is one of two Classics in Gahanna--the good one, the one this week, is at 77 N. Stygler Road. Come out and party with us!

Hangin' out on Columbus's North Side!

This week we are in Columbus--Friday night, August 8th, we are back at Eldorado's on North High St., across from Graceland, and Saturday night, August 9th, we are at Nikki's, which is on Cleveland avenue behind that poorly lit 'Dream Girls' place.
No cover at Eldorado's and a $3 cover at Nikki's. Nikki's is being revamped and every time we play there it has been upgraded yet again. But, sadly, the chandelier is gone.

Pickerington Blues Fest-- Another Smashing Success!!

Great job at the Pickerington Blues Festival this past Saturday. You had a terrific lineup, super great food, and it was a great day.
We played in the Gazebo and it turned out to be a great blessing--it was cool there, we got to control our own sound, and our obnoxious keyboard player called in sick so we were able to hear each other!!
The CBA looks forward to working with you every year on this if you'll have us.
Thanks!
Gary

Very Odd time--but Way Fun! Mudstock & Bolts-This Weekend- The Chimneys

We played between cloud bursts at Mudstock on July 12th. Great crowd, high humidity, blistering sun when we saw it. Some people came out later to see us at Bolts in Englewood.
This weekend we are back at The Chimneys in Miamisburg, 67 S. Main St., July 19th, 8pm to 12mn. There are at least two bike events going on that day and night, powered and unpowered!! Should be some cool view and we'll play some new cool tunes.

CREEKSIDE BLUES FESTIVAL JUNE 20 2008 GAHANNA OH

PHOTOS OF CREEKSIDE HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE POST, JUST BELOW!

TRAVEL WITH US TO MARIETTA FOR JULY 4TH AND JULY 5TH!!

We go on the road to our favorite Ohio city, Marietta, for July 4th and July 5th. **SOME FLIERS WENT OUT FROM THE MARIETTA BLUES ORGANIZATION WHICH SAID WE ARE PLAYING AT THE JULY 4TH RED WHITE AND BOOM. TRUTH IS We are playing near that, 1/2 block away on Front St., at Marietta Brewery, 10pm to 2am, ON July 4th, Friday night.
Then, on Saturday, we are back at the Lafayette Hotel, for the Marietta Ribfest, 6pm to 10pm.

Our Luck contintues to be GREAT! Last night at Digger was more than awesome

We have had luck on our side during the Ohio Monsoon season. Played last week at Creekside on the only nice weather day of the three. Then, somehow, last night, we got through the entire outdoor concert at Digger & Finch with no weather interruption!! We had a great crowd of people which grew through the night, and we were the first band in 5 weeks that the Dublin police didn't visit! Thanks for everyone who came out!

Monday, June 23, 2008

What an unusual weekend it was!!

/>
June 20th, we opened the Creekside Blues Festival--Twice--once at 2pm for Channel 10 news, and for real at 5pm. The crowds never let up all night--every 5 minutes there were 100's more people. You could NOT move.
Then, June 21st we were in Gahanna again at Classics 77 S. Stygler Road. This is a cool little club with a huge patio, great food, and partying people. It was a nice change from playing before 1000's like we have the last few weekends, to playing for a cool, smaller group. We are back there August 9th. Be sure to say HI to Cowboy!!
9:30 . See Ya!

Sunday, June 15, 2008

What we had last night was FANTASTIC!

We played the Plain City Pub in Plain City last night, June 14th. We knew from owner Roger that the summer has been slow there--and, we only had the cream of the crop of people come out and see us. What we lack in quantity, we made up with in quality. Everybody was really into it last night. Dancers, singers, requests, buying cd's, we had a blast. At least 5 of the 6 of us did.
See you next weekend --both gigs in Gahanna--Creekside on Friday, June 20 5-6:30 pm, and Classics 77 Stygler Road in Gahanna, 9:30pm. Creekside is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Come out Saturday night, after Creekside, to see us at Classics. We gonna party.

Monday, June 9, 2008

DAMN!!! What a night at Park St. June 7-- in Plain City June 14th-- June 20th Creekside/Gahanna

We had a phenomenal time last Saturday at The Park St. Tavern. Not only were the streets packed to see performers on the outside stage, the inside of Park Street was SOTTRO [STANDING ON TIP TOES ROOM ONLY.] We were so impressed with the quality of the party people there--people there to have some fun and let it all out--even at close it ws hard to walk around in there. Many thanks to Chris for having us, and he provided and ran the sound.

This week we are back at PCP [Plain City Pub] in Plain City on the main drag, 161, on Saturday, June 14th, 9:30pm to 2:00am. Everyone should go to the PCP at least once in their life--it is a truly unique, partying kind of place. No cover, cheap drinks, good food, and much, much more.

June 20th, Friday, we are opening the Creekside Blues Festival, 5pm. It will NOT be that crowded at that time, so be sure to come on out. This 3 days festival features national and other regional acts---terrific line-up!

Sunday, June 1, 2008

Very Cool May 17th -Got to play twice! May 24th Eldorados in Columbus

The Ovarian Cancer Benefit held at Sequoia Lanes in north Columbus--a special day for the Spencer Family--after a fantastic performance by Soul Satyr, they allowed us to use their equipment to play a fun-filled set for this occasion. This was a very emotional day, and the jumping off point for an annual event commemorating the Spencer family. Thanks for having us.
Then, we traveled west on I-70 and went to Bolt's in North Dayton [Englewood.] What a fantastic turnout we had there--we had at least 45 people there that we personally invited, and they came! Bolts is starting to have regular bands on Saturdays, and the word is finally starting to get out to the great area music fans. We will be back there July 12th, after we play 'Mudstock' an Epilepsy fund-raiser held in Dayton.

This week we stay homebound in Columbus at Eldorado's North High Street in Columbus, across from Graceland shopping center. Last time we played there we had to stay awhile longer after we were done to help fix the roof! No cover and great drink prices. Come out this weekend and we promise we won't make you stay and help with the shingles!

Tuesday, May 6, 2008

Last weekend off until mid August

Thirsty Ear Open Jam Gig Hugely Cool, Yesterday!

We've hosted a few open stages at the Ear, and other places, and this was the first time we didn't need to go up and fill in for a musician spot during the four jam sets. Very energetic, enthusiastic, and talented show of musicians yesterday, both legendary in Columbus, like Long Tall Deb and Ray Fuller, and newbies.
Thanks for a great crowd and hanging on so long!

As a 6 piece we are a formidable force to reckon with. Come out and enjoy our R & B funk and rockin' blues show. Thanks!

Had to cancel Stingers--next stop Tommy Keegans downtown Columbus

Weather we wanted to or not, we had to cancel our gig at Stingers 2 in Urbana. The Urbana Citizen put a nice article in the paper for that day, promoting the new album and our gig at Stingers 2, but the wintry mix wouldn't let us get the guys here from Columbus. Sorry if you came out to see us, but we weren't there. IF YOU CAME OUT FRIDAY, EMAIL US AND WE'LL SEND YOU A FREE CD. Use codeblueband@hotmail.com.
March 8th, Saturday, we are at Tommy Keegan's 456 S. Front St. downtown Columbus. This Irish pub has been a mainstay in Columbus, and is a very cool place to party. We'll be there 9:30 to 1:30. Click on link on our website to get directions there.

There is a $3 cover charge. Hope to see you!

February 16- 2008-Big news--we got 2nd place at the River City Ohio Blues Competition in Marietta

We competed with 18 bands and acoustic acts last Friday and Saturday and we got 2nd place, after first place winner Mojo Theory, also from Columbus. While this doesn't get us to Memphis for 2009, it was another 2nd place finish for us, after finished 2nd in 2006 at the Columbus Ohio Blues Challenge. In 2005 we finished 5th at the Marietta contest.

It was cool for us that it was clear that we were the crowd favorite. Choosing between having won and being the favorite would be hard--having both will be nice some day. Thanks to all the cool people from Marietta, Columbus, West Virginia, etc. who supported us in Marietta. Jamming at the Marietta Brewery was great fun after the contest, with some of the supporters coming there. We will be playing at the brewery, soon.
